Description

EDIT: His Main and tail have been changed a bit since this drawing!

I don't Draw ponies enough...

Name: Nightmare Dream

Race: Pony/Dragon hybrid

Age: Young adult

Sex: Male

Cutie Mark: Dark cloud with lightning coming out of it with stars around

Special Talent: The ability to tell you what your dreams and nightmares mean, What your subconscious may be trying to tell you in your dreams. Telling about what's going on in a pony's life or how they are feeling about a situation through their dreams.

Personality: He is very withdrawn, mostly from his appearance but is very kind. Once you get to know him he can be very easy going and laid back, able to go with the flow, but he will have his own opinions on things if you ask him. For a Pegasus he doesn't actually fly that much because he tends to walk around with eyes shut and mouth closed. He tends not to venture out to much if he doesn't have to, though on occasion he will for some fresh air or some good coffee.

Background: He was born and raised in Manehattan. Ever since he was a young colt, Nightmare dreams was different. The eyes and scales didn't show up right away. When he was born, he looked like any other pony baby, green dots for eyes, cute little wings and some hair on his mane and tail. The only noticeable difference was that he had little hair over the front of his muzzle, almost bald. His mother was also curious of his color, seeing as she was neither light or dark grey. She couldn't remember who the father of this little foal was, but she did raise him. By the time he became a young colt things started to change. His scales started to appear, one after another, and his pupils took shape, as well as his sharp teeth growing in.. The snake-like slits, pointed fangs, and the red scales caused him to get bullied constantly. With the constant bullying from kids his own age, and threats from the parents, ND's mother decided it would be best to pull him out of school and get him a private tutor, some pony that wouldn't be afraid. Teacher after teacher came and went, always too struck by the little Colt's appearance. One day, A teacher did make it past the doorstep, A blind Unicorn. This unicorn came in and actually sat down with the young colt, smiling with him and laughing. The mother decided that this would be the teacher he needed, and also part time baby sitter for when she needed to run errands. The unicorn accepted with a smile. This child couldn't be as dangerous as the rumors said, the child only seeming to be just like any other, if not just a bit more reserved. The unicorn eventually got the young colt to go outside, Teaching him how to walk up and down stairs with his eyes closed as well as anywhere else he wanted. The teacher only did so because the pony felt so afraid to go out and look at the world. The unicorn didn't understand why, but helped all the same. They would take lovely walks together and spent many a year in each other's company. With the unicorn at this side, he eventually discovered his talent, by listening to a fortune teller on the sidewalk. They were telling a pony's future and he walked up and asked what they were talking about (he was half hiding behind the table though so they wouldn't see his teeth). They were talking about dreams and what it would mean for their future. He asked what the dream was and as he was told, he explained what he thought it meant. The pony that had been getting their fortune told had agreed that the young colt had been right. He paid his bit, plus a few more, to the fortune teller. The fortune teller gave the colt a bit and ND went back to the unicorn to tell him about it. The unicorn used their magic to carry the bit back with them to the apartment, where the cycle would continue every time they walked out. This is how he discovered his talent that was able to decipher dreams. The young colt though, in time, grew to the young stallion he was. Now he was equipped with a set of false teeth to go over his sharp fangs and he had learned to traverse the city by sounds and smells alone. He eventually moved out on his own and now owns his own little shop/apartment. The store is on bottom and the apartment on the top floor. It's a little oddities shop called Curious Curiosities, selling things that you pretty much wouldn't find anywhere else. He doesn't take out the fake teeth that cover his fangs but he gets away with the eyes and scales by saying it's a part of the shop theme, the scales and such making him fit in with the store. He also gives out readings to ponies who come into the store, usually getting tips for it, since he doesn't charge. His store is wedged between a coffee shop and a bookstore. This makes him very happy.

Likes: Coffee, books, unusual things, Mythology, and baked goods.

Dislikes: Bullies, people who try to steal his things, people who say they hate something without trying it.

Hobbies: telling dream fortunes, watching the shop, drinking coffee, listening to the sounds of the city, trying to find out how to make friends.

Fears: Fear of being discovered and rejected again. He fears to think someone would hate him just because of how he looks, without getting to know him.

Hopes and dreams: He really just wants a friend that will accept him for who he is, realize that he's not a monster and want to be around him even though he looks the way he does.
